Ten weeks after the injury, the 27 year old has one main goal.
Rúrik didn’t join his teammates on Monday, but on Tuesday he was back on the court at 1. FC Nürnberg. Two and a half months after his surgery on the Achilles tendon, he’s been cleared by rehab coach Tobias Dippert, to start training again.
“I am delighted to be back in Nuremberg,” the winger said after his first training session. “It’s nice to be back with the team.” Because of continuing problems with the Achilles tendon itself Gíslason had undergone a surgical procedure in October 2015 “It was unpleasant to constantly play with pain. Therefore I hope that it is now over and I’m fit again soon.”
The signs are good. On Monday Gíslason went to Switzerland for a follow-up.
“The doctor said that everything looks very good. I also feel that it is constantly improving.”
First of, Rúrik will train individually and then join the team on their training camp in Belek.
If all goes well, it is quite “realistic, that I am ready for the first game in Munich” says Gíslason, however “I do not want to pressure the moment. I only have one goal, and that is to play without pain again. The team has played really well without me. I’m just going to work hard for it to be right back there.”
